Every year on my birthday, I turn to my journal to receive guidance and wisdom for the year ahead. (I do this a lot of other times, too, but I'm always curious to see what messages arise on my birthday. Today, my birthday, I looked back on what I wrote to myself a year ago, and I couldn't believe how true it was. When people ask me how to receive messages, I always recommend automatic writing. I believe that automatic writing allows you to channel wisdom and guidance that you need for your own soul's path. Today, I'm sharing the messages I received a year ago that came true in more ways than I could imagine:
We are helping you become more in tune with your body, mind, and soul. As you do so, and come more into alignment, your energy will infuse all that you do. There will be more peace in your soul, more joy in your life. Right now you're feeling as if the weight of the world is on your shoulders [I was dealing with mild postpartum depression at this time]. There is a trauma lodged inside of you, and practices such as Ayurveda will help you release it.
We are also preparing you to take on more work. The fall and winter will see steady growth, and the spring will bring greater gifts to you. Balance comes as you decide what to keep and what to release. There will be an intense "spring cleaning" when Colin [my son] turns one. You will be asked to clear out what no longer serves you on every level. [So true, see here!]
Think of this year as a detoxification. It may feel hard or may feel like you are failing at times. Just know that you will find your way, and know that this time next year you will feel much lighter. Everything that is coming is for your highest good, and everything that is leaving is for your highest good. Trust that.
Is your job in alignment with your soul?
I’ve recently bumped up against yet another lesson in staying true to myself. It seems that whenever I make a decision out of fear, it does not go well! I become overwhelmed, miserable, and feel that icky creep of dread when I wake up in the morning. It became clear to me in the last few months that I had again compromised my alignment by taking a part-time teaching job from a place of fear, rather than from a place of joy and love. As I saw this, I realized that it was time to go!
How did I ask for the signs to confirm my inner knowing? License plates! They are one of the best ways to get signs for your life, they rarely fail me! So, driving home from work one afternoon, feeling deep in my gut that it was time.to.go. I said out loud, “Universe, if you want me out of there ASAP, please give me a sign!” Immediately, a car zoomed by with the license plate LEV. I thought to myself, “Huh, was that LEAVE?” Another car zoomed by, YES on its plate. I laughed out loud.
It was clearly time to go, both by my inner knowing and these obvious signs. However, I was scared! My fear began to show up in my body-a strained neck muscle, a bad cold then laryngitis, finally hives that broke out all over my back.
I began to realize that by stepping away from this position, I was releasing some of the final strands of my identity as a teacher. Leaving this job seemed to close the book on everything I had originally intended for my life. I’ve discovered that it’s time to realign my identity from a teacher who does intuitive readings on the side, to an intuitive who sometimes teaches.
Often, when it comes to career, people want clear, packaged steps to take to quickly bring them from Point A to Point B without having any gap in pay or anything that feels uncomfortable. From my perspective on my journey, it’s not possible! Perhaps there are a lucky few who went from a comfortable traditional career to a comfortable alternative career, but I’ve found the leap to be messy and chaotic, testing me in ways I never thought possible when I stepped into teaching nearly a decade ago.
Over the course of this blog, I’ll be sharing my personal career lessons and takeaways from the last ten years. I’ll also be sharing the steps I’ve taken to live from my heart and clear out fear as I work to build my own business.
My words and guidance (which will combine my personal experience with channeled messages) will apply to anyone, entrepreneur or otherwise, who wants to take their career to the next level. Thank you for joining me on this journey!
It was a dream that led me to my first true past life experience, the first one that I was aware of at least. All of the details are somewhat hazy, as dreams tend to be. However, there was a certain color palette I remember: shades of brown and green, the grey of the still water, and a steely sky. The time period seemed to be in the late 19th century, in a rural area perhaps in the South? I was in my early 20s and married to my husband in this lifetime, Dan. I remember lots of warmth and happiness in the first part of the dream, in the tiny cabin where we lived. It seemed straight out of Walden Pond. Then, my husband was taken with fever and infection, likely from the small pond that looked so idyllic next to our house. In the end, gangrene claimed his life at a young age, and the dream ended with me, left alone and devastated.
When I tune into past lifetimes for myself and others, I am often met with stories like this one that appeared in my dream. Although you may have had hundreds or thousands of past lives, there is a reason that one is arising up and away from all of the others. As with all experiences in life, your awareness of a past life can be a catalyst for your growth and healing. It helps you bend time and see the world through the lens of the big picture, rather than staying stuck or playing small, consumed by the pressures of daily life. The lives that emerge often do have traumas attached to them, because they are coming to the forefront to highlight a pattern of dysfunction that is ready to be released.
How do you tap into your own past lives? I highly recommend using a guided visualization, such as a recording by Brian Weiss, or another trained past life regressionist. Find a comfortable, quiet place to sit or lie down, use some essential oils, an eye pillow, and a blanket. Let yourself take a journey into these past connections. Trust whatever arises. As Brian Weiss says, you may see a movie playing out before your eyes. Or, you might just hear a word or see one image. If you don’t have a vivid experience the first time, keep trying! You never know what might arise, even outside of meditation.
